EU-Convention

In a broad and participative discussion, the European Attacs agreed on a first common statement:

"Attacs 10 principles on a democratic treaty"

This text about the legal fundament of the EU fulfills a series of goals:

1. We reject the revival of the Constitutional Treaty which was denied by majorities in France and the Netherlands.

2. We question in the same way the Nice Treaty, the present fundament of the EU.

3. We demand our democratic representatives to put Europe on a new, democratic fundament.

We demand that a new Assembly which is mandated to elaborate a new Treaty has to be elected directly by the people in all member states and that any new Treaty has to be subject to referenda in all member states.

The EU has only a future if it is rebuilt from the bottom, with the involvement of people in democratic processes.

This declaration has been signed by 16 European Attac organizations.

Lisbon Declaration answers Berlin Declaration

The European Attacs answer the EU´s official Berlin Declaration on the 50th anniversary of the Rome Treaty, which does, once again, not change the present course of the EU, with the Lisabon Declaration, signed at the preparatory meeting of the European Social Forum in April 2007 in Lisbon:
